He then went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry. Dr. Krein trained at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where there was an emphasis on the treatment and management of ocular disease. He has also trained to the full scope of medical optometry in the Oklahoma Cherokee Health System where he was certified in laser therapy for the anterior segment as well as surgical procedures for the optometric physician. Born and raised in Edmonton, it is here that her passion for optometry began at the age of 13 when she began working for her father, Dr. Ronald Lindberg in his downtown optometric office. After two vision mission trips to Costa Rica while in high school, Dr. Shelley’s love for optometry was confirmed and she started her educational journey.
Dr. Shelley attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, the same school her father did. It is here she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and a Doctor of Optometry Degree. In 1988, she returned to Edmonton with her husband, Dr. Steve Krein, and as a second-generation optometrist joined the family practice alongside her father, Dr. Ronald Lindberg. With many years of clinical experience, Dr. Shelley has continued to maintain her education and has been certified through the Northeastern School of Optometry, University of Oklahoma with the ability to diagnose and treat ocular disease. She is a member of the Alberta Optometric Association, the Alberta College of Optometrists, and the Canadian Optometric association. The majority of her clinical days are spent at our City Centre Eye Care location where she enjoys caring for her patients and many of her father’s original patients that started with the office in the early 1960's.
